2. Why do my textbooks cost so much?
On average, 65% of the sticker price for new textbooks will go back to the
publisher. The author will receive about 11.6% in royalties and almost 2% will
go to the freight company. After covering expenses, the bookstore makes an
average of 4.4% in profit, which is then dispersed
into the campus, helping to keep the student's institutional costs lower. (top)
